    Job Description:
    The Assistant Brewer will be responsible for all brewing practices and day to day cellaring of beer, cleaning & maintenance of brewing facility and all associated equipment, as well as record-keeping related to the aforementioned. Duties will include, but will not be limited to, the production and cellaring of beer, packaging of finished beer, working with and directing other members of the team to ensure all beer that leaves the facility is of the highest quality and that the brewery is kept clean, functional, and up to Bent Water’s standards at all times.

    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Brew and Cellar beer according to schedule and SOPs.
    • Keep the Brewing Facility clean and functional at all times.
    • Thorough understanding of Brewery GMP
    • Clean tanks and brewhouse.
    • Participate in beer sensory panels.
    • Troubleshoot and report all equipment problems to the maintenance staff. Make recommendations for maintenance, repair and upkeep of facility and all equipment.
    • Be responsible for maintaining all required paperwork and records including but not limited to brew logs, inventory sheets, packaging records, recipe sheets, etc., in both paper and digital format.
    • Participate in various events, festivals, and promotions.
    • Represent Bent Water Brewing in a positive manner at all times.

    Education and Experience
    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • Minimum of 2-3 years experience at a brewery of at least 5000BBL annual production.
    • Must have strong technical knowledge of brewing/cellaring science and techniques
    • Familiarity with brewhouse automation is a bonus

    Special Requirements
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule: days, evenings, and occasional weekends.
    • Must have reliable transportation, a valid Driver’s License, and clean driving record.
    • Forklift certification or the ability to obtain forklift certification.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures.
    • Must possess superior organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Possess the ability to multi-task and manage stressful circumstances associated with a fast-paced and constantly changing work environment.
    • Ability to work independently with limited or no direct supervision.
    • Ability to be a leader in the brewery.
    • Ability to gather, analyze and summarize data.
    • Good understanding of quality assurance / quality control.
    • Good troubleshooting and problem solving skills.

    Equipment, Machines and Software Used:
    This position requires the regular use of a computer, forklift, centrifugal pumps, digital scales, grain mill, and various brewing and lab equipment that is subject to change over time. Computer Software: EKOS Brewmaster, Google Drive, Sheets and Docs.

    Physical Requirements:
    Ability to regularly move up to 55lb bags as well as stand for extended periods of time, repeatedly climb stairs, walk, use hands to grasp, handle or feel, push, pull, reach, crouch, kneel, crawl or bend, and perform repetitive motions of the hands and/or wrists.
