Assistant Brewer Available - F/T - Three Forks Bakery & Brewing Company
In our 6th year of business, we are a thriving brewpub located in downtown Nevada City California in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. We brew on a 7bbl Premier Stainless system with four 7bbl, two 15bbl FVs, six serving tanks feeding eight taps, and currently produce around 700bbls/yr. We have limited self distribution of kegs and bottles to local accounts. We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard working, awesome person to replace our current enthusiastic, hard working, awesome assistant brewer who is relocating.
Responsibilities include:
Wort Production
• Milling/Mashing/Lautering & temp control
• Graining out/Boil/hopping
• Accurately and precisely following recipes
• Knocking out at specified temperatures
• Brewhouse CIP
Fermentation and maturation
• Accurate daily gravity readings
• Fermentation process and temperature control
• Spunding and natural carbonation
• Yeast harvesting/Dry hopping
Cellaring
• Beer transfers/Carbonation
• Keg filling/cleaning/sanitizing
• Beer draught system cleaning and maintenance – in-house & outside accounts
• CIP/SIP for serving tanks/fermenters per brewery procedures
• Keeping brewery equipment organized and monitoring supplies
• Bottling (full setup, process, and breakdown)
Other
• Monitoring flavor profiles daily
• Weekly deliveries to local accounts
• Keeping accurate, timely, and legible records
• Troubleshooting mechanical equipment to ensure safe and timely production of finished beer
• Communicating with the head brewer to understand and fulfill responsibilities
• Reporting safety, maintenance, or beer quality issues to head brewer
Qualifications include
• Passion for beer and brewing demonstrated by professional brewing experience, homebrewing experience, or formal or self-led education
• Ability to work alone, be self-motivated and demonstrate repeatable, unsupported proficiency of complicated and sensitive tasks after training, practice, and feedback
• Growth-oriented mindset with a willingness to openly communicate mistakes and gaps in knowledge
• Demonstrated ability to make intelligent decisions in difficult, rapidly evolving circumstances
• Outstanding interpersonal skills, self-awareness, verbal and written communication, and emotional intelligence
• Exceptional curiosity and analytical ability
• Willing to work weekends a plus
• A valid and current driver's license and ability to load, unload, and locally drive a commercial van
• Ability to lift 55-pound bags above shoulder height
• Ability to climb ladders
• Ability to push and pull 165-pound kegs along floor
• Ability to work in tight spaces with low clearance for extended periods of time
• Ability to work in extreme hot and cold temperatures
• Ability to work with hazardous chemicals and wear personal protective equipment
• 21 years of age or older
Compensation
Full time/hourly, with benefits, competitive based on experience
