    This position encompasses high standard practices with brewing and production management. To perform the job successfully, the Lead Brewer must be able to perform the essential duties listed below.     ESSENTIAL DUTIES & PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES– To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following essential duties satisfactorily. Duties must be carried out promptly, accurately, and safely. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Understands and represents Butcherknife's Mission and Vision Statements
    • High level of knowledge of the microbiology of brewing
    • Strong Excel skills, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint Skills
    • Familiar with brewing software such as BeerSmith and Ekos
    • Manages the raw materials and inventory of finished goods
    • Overseeing the day-to-day production, packaging, sale, and transfer of beer
    • Monitoring the quality, temperature, flavor, and carbonation
    • Working with brewers in monitoring and propagating yeast
    • Overseeing and maintaining the brewery cleaning schedule, preventative maintenance, and repairs
    • Must be able to properly lift and move full kegs and capable of lifting 55 pound bags
    • Operate and direct canning procedures on our Wild Goose Canning Line
    • Understands SOPS with cleaning chemicals for CIP procedures
    • Must be knowledgeable of TTB guidelines
    • Great communication skills to lead a team
    • Collaborate with sales and marketing while developing strong and long-lasting relationships
    • Creative skills are needed for designing new recipes in conjunction with the Master Brewer
    • Perform maintenance needs on brew house equipment, which includes boiler and glycol systems
    • Manage people and resources effectively, including all inventory and rearranging production schedules when necessary
    • Passion for beer



    TRAINING, ACQUIRED SKILLS, & KNOWLEDGE
    • A degree in brewing science or minimum five years of previous brewing experience
    • A four year bachelor degree is preferred. A degree in Chemistry and/or Microbiology is highly desired.

    • Ability to stand for extended periods of time and use of fine motor skills/good manual dexterity are required.
    • Ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach with your body and arms
    • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
    • Moderate mental and visual attention required for performing manual work, machine operations, set-ups, inspections, and adjustments that require frequent decisions to detect and adjust for a variance from proper operation.
