    Taproom/Front of the House (FOH) Manager

    Salty Turtle Beer Company located in Surf City, NC (Topsail Island) began in late 2017 and has quickly become a top attraction in Surf City, NC. We are a 7-bbl Brewhouse and anticipating 1000 BBLs a year of production for 2020. Our high volume taproom includes live music, food trucks, run clubs, and non-profit events throughout the week. We are open 7 days a week and most Holidays and we are looking to add a Taproom Manager to our team!

    Position Summary

    The Taproom Manager is to be responsible for overseeing all daily functions of the brewery taproom while maintaining a positive work environment through inspiring, developing, and providing team-focused and always innovative vision of excellence. This position will directly report to the Co-Founder/GM and will work in conjunction with the Head-Brewer.

    Job Responsibilities

    Speaks the history, tradition, and education surrounding the company culture, product knowledge, and service standards through providing coaching, training, and education on a daily basis. Is an ambassador for the company/brand.
    Recruits, interviews, selects, and retains team service oriented individuals.
    Provides a vision for the team and mentors each employee through development and playing an active role in acquiring new skills to better themselves and the company.
    Directly in charge of the planning of in-house events that includes but not limited to; food trucks, live music, pop-up events, local art displays, and collaborations. Work with a team on marketing and scheduling events.
    Ensures Festivals and off site events are properly staffed and trained.
    Teach and ensure proper pouring practices to eliminate waste and maintain acceptable keg utilization.
    Safeguards the sale of alcoholic beverages through maintaining staff certifications, providing education and training, and is proactive about recognizing appropriate service of alcohol.
    Actively keep up with all social media platforms to ensure proper information is updated and reviews are being addressed as needed.
    Ensures that the space is opened and closed according to company standards and guidelines. Keeping the bar organized, clean and all items dated properly.
    Leads a safe, secure, and healthy facility environment by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures complying with health and legal regulations and maintaining security systems when applicable.
    Assist in leading the in house Beer School Training System by working with the company leadership team with scheduling re-occuring beer training and Cicerone studying.
    Interact with customers in a friendly and helpful way. Assess customers’ needs and preferences and make recommendations.
    Restock and replenish taproom supply and inventory, ensuring supplies are being purchased.
    Ensure all retail merchandise is accurately inventoried, stocked, and displayed.
    Establish effective communication with new ideas, style changes and reorder needs with the General Manager.
    Oversee an effective inventory management system to ensure accurate counts, maximize availability, and minimize shrink.

    Administrative and Financial Responsibilities

    Routinely audit checkouts to minimize fraudulent activity and hold staff members accountable for proper checkout procedures.
    Responsible for the financial accuracy of sales records, COG, and labor budgets and beer and retail inventories through inputting, reviewing and analyzing all sheets and metrics.
    Make sure CC’s get batched daily. Maintain accurate records and cash handling procedures for all deposits, register banks, and change bags. Make sure all registers and change bags have change needed to conduct business
    Control purchasing and par levels of products and supplies in a financially responsible manner without compromising quality of service and products.
    Maintain communication with ownership through daily recaps.
    Creates and communicates the scheduling for the taproom according to past sales, trends, budgets, events and is accountable for all staffing needs.
    Weekly recaps updating on accomplishments, feedback, progress, and new ideas with executive management and team of beertenders.

    Supervisory Responsibility

    Directly supervises Beertenders. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures. Responsibilities include assisting in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems while maintaining a positive work environment through inspiring, developing, and providing a team-focused and always innovative vision of excellence.

    Work Environment

    This job operates in a manufacturing setting and requires mobility inside and outside of the brewery. Movement is spent in manufacturing areas while performing various tasks. The use of a phone, MAC/PC, printer, and POS system are required. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.     While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions. Movement is spent in high-traffic areas while performing various tasks. The position is exposed to high energy loud music levels and lowlights for long periods of time.

    Physical Demands:

    The physical demands here are represented by those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires the ability to walk/stand and sustain physical activity for extended periods of time (8+ hours). Requires at times high and low levels of movement with the ability to reach with arms, kneel, crouch, climb, balance, and squat. Requires the lifting of items up to 60 lbs and maneuver items of up to 150 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

    Competitive pay with benefits including health care plans and paid time off. Quarterly bonuses are offered if sales growth expectations are met. Often working weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Hours range
    from as early as 8am to as late as 12am. 40 hour plus work weeks are expected.
