  • What is going on here?

Recently I don't know if I'm in the right web site.
In the equipment section someone advertises viagra online,
some other section there is someone advertising testosterone..........

Do we have a editor watching what's going on here??????

Would like to hear how others feel.

    Fred,
I report every Spam post I see on here, every morning. If you see a bad post, report it. Just click on the red exclamation point on the upper right hand of the post. The moderators do take down the bad posts.

perhaps this kinda spam can be avoided by not allowing new posters to create a new topic for disscusion or even post for 24 hours after signing up. These spammers look for sites like this to spam on because it has alot of google power...

        Thanks for the comments.

We do get an average of about 2-5 spam posts every day here at ProBrewer. Most of which you never see because they get taken down as soon as we see them or a user notifies us.

We do have a system that keeps most spammers away. Anyone who registers (which you must do to post in either the Discussion Boards or Classifieds) is sent a confirmation email that must be replied to. This eliminates moist spammers who don’t make that effort.

However, obviously some do. We keep tabs as much as possible on new posts and remove those that are not appropriate – including misplaced posts, homebrewing posts and others.

We do keep a close eye on things – but your help is greatly appreciated. As Beertje46 said, reporting a bad post is very helpful. Please feel free to do this anytime you see an inappropriate post of any kind.

        Thanks again,

        Admin

Great job admins, I know it is a lot of work keeping the slime off the boards. I do like the idea of a delayed posting period. Sign on, get approved and then maybe no posts for a couple days. Is this feasible or would it be more work than its worth?

Well…I haven’t found a feature that allows delayed posting for new users. But I did find another feature that may help. I won’t go into the details – but I’ll we’ll see if it helps. I’ll let you know from this end.

                No More Spam!

I set up a new feature in the system that I think will eliminate all spam to the boards! It’s a little extra work at this end, but it should spare us the grief of this persistent problem.

Thanks for all of your help and comments.

It appears the new spam filter lasted about a month.

Are you being closed minded? I just think the problem is that the Viagra listings should be correctly placed under "ingredients." Us baby boomers are getting older and maybe us brewers are being blind to a whole new market out there that has not yet grown to its fullest potential. Especially with recent hop pricing, there may be a need for other alternative ingredients.

It's pronounced PILSNER, not PLEASE HER!

Yeah, that was kinda lame, but I haven't had my coffee yet!

                          Cheers, Tim

I am drinking coffee, but I don't have glasses on, and I am dyslexic...I thought it was pronounced "please'n her."

We talked about new ingredients the other day at the brewery and decided that we should add Viagra to a batch and call it Viagrale. I think the Boomers would have a HARD TIME not drinking it.
