  • 55 degree fv cones

I am interested to hear feedback from anyone using 55 degree cones on fermentation tanks. I currently use tanks that have 45 degree cones and 60 degree cones. The yeast we use is extremely nonflocculating and the 45 degree cones are very difficult to filter out of. The tanks with 60 degree cones work great, but are fairly tall because of the steep cone. I have talked to a tank manufacturer that utilizes 55 degree cones which can save up to 12 inches of overall height on a 40 BBL tank. Height is a concern in my existing facility.

    Cheers!

To discuss cone angle you first need to indicate where you are measuring from, then we'll all be on the same page to answer your question. Measuring as most equipment manufacturers do, by "included angle", a 55* cone is steeper then a 60, thus a taller tank. I have 60* cones here and am satisfied with them, so other then the link, I can't help much.
