Seattle Cider Company, Seattle’s first and only cidery since prohibition, is seeking a driven, self-motivated, and personable coworker to join our small but growing team in a fast-paced and exciting work environment.
Job Description
Cellar: Assist Head Cidermaker in all areas related to production
o Tank cleaning
o Preparation for juice shipments
o Nutrient additions
o Yeast handling and pitching
o Fermentation tracking and gravities
o Pressing apples at harvest time
o Filtration
o Preparation of finished product
o Quality assurance and control
o Daily organization, cleaning
Packaging
o Keg cleaning, racking, palletizing
o Canning cider on our semi-automated canning line
o Bottling cider
Applicants should have:
• Experience in a (production) cidery or brewery, particularly related to tank cleaning
• Solid knowledge of cider fermentation dynamics
• Strong background in cleaning / sanitization
• Yeast handling proficiency
• Lab skills, proficient in chemistry / microbiology
• Strong communication skills
• Mechanical ability
• Forklift experience
• Willingness to work at a fast pace, yet be precise in daily tasks
• VERY flexible availability. Shifts may include weekends, nights, overnights
• Desire to learn and progress
• General knowledge of fluid dynamics and pressure
Physical requirements
• Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 140 pounds. Employee to employ traditional lifting methods
• Vision abilities required by this job include, close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
• Ability to be frequently exposed to wet condition and work in extreme cold
• Frequently exposed to strong and sometimes disagreeable odors and occasionally exposed to caustic chemicals
• Ability to work near moving mechanical parts
• Ability to work in a moderate noise level
Compensation
Competitive pay to be determined based on experience

• Paid Time Off accrued hourly, up to two weeks per year for full time work
