Druthers Brewing Company, one of New York's fastest growing breweries, seeks a Head Brewer for our soon-to-open brewpub in Schenectady, NY. This will be the third Druthers location, joining our Saratoga Springs and Albany facilities.
The ideal candidate will have a true passion for beer. This means deep knowledge of beer styles, brewing science and proven devotion to the craft. At least one year of experience as a brewpub head brewer or more experience as a brewer in either a brewpub or production environment is required. An education in brewing, natural sciences or engineering would be great. The ability to repeatedly lift 25 kg (55 lb) is required. Applicants not meeting these minimum requirements will not be considered.
Our new location is realistically planned to open by October 1, 2017. The 10 BBL brewing system (6 X 10 BBL CCVs and 10 X 10 BBL BBTs) is expected by the end of July. Your employment would start around mid to late June to allow time for training at our other facilities.
Compensation is based on experience and is highly competitive, including paid vacation and medical benefits. We are also a (generally) sane and pretty friendly group. You will have the ability to make your own hours and work with our brewmaster on recipe formulation, eventually producing your own beers for rotating taps. You will supervise an assistant brewer that splits their time between our Saratoga and Schenectady locations.
Druthers Brewing Company opened in Saratoga August 1, 2012. We opened our Albany location May 26, 2015. We brewed 3000 BBL last year and expect to greatly increase that number with the imminent arrival of our CFT bottling line in Albany. We've won Gold and Silver awards at the World Beer Cup (2014 German-style sour ale and 2016 Scottish-style ale). We are passionate about beer and beer quality.
