THE OPEN ROAD
Mother Road Brewing Company seeks a head brewer for our new production brewery in Flagstaff, Arizona. Mother Road, founded in 2011 has reached capacity in its current location and is building a second larger production facility. After helping to manage the transition and brewing in our existing brewery over the next six months, you will be working with the Production Manager to lead the brew team at the expansion location. Our Head Brewer will have working knowledge of brewing, cellar operations, packaging and lab. You will work directly with our new custom-built Forgeworks 3-Vessel 20 barrel brewhouse brewing into 4, 80 barrel fermentors plus a 60. You'll be packaging using a Twin Monkeys Animas 16 ounce canning line, work in a lab with Hach and Hanna instruments; and manage a talented staff of six.
In 2018 we'll brew over 7,000 barrels and you'll work closely with the Founders and Production Manager to launch a new canned beer and complete three seasonal offerings. The successful candidate will lead, encourage, teach, coach and schedule the brew team; analyze all brewery data to refine processes and ensure quality control; will develop brewing plans; conduct annual planning; represent Mother Road at public events; and will provide regular concise reporting on business objectives.

A qualified candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, brewing or distilling, hospitality, or a related field and three or more years of brewing experience (substantial career experience may replace the bachelor’s degree requirement). The winning candidate will have excellent verbal and writing skills; a proven ability to lead and manage people; talk easily to crowds; be versed in PowerPoint, Excel, Word (and Google equivalents); have a knowledge of HACCP, distribution data, and TTB requirements; and be proficient in brewing math.
