Lead Brewer
Trillium Brewing is looking for a creative, experienced brewer to lead operations at our new brewery-restaurant located on Farnsworth Street in Boston’s Fort Point neighborhood. The Lead Brewer will be responsible for overseeing and performing *all aspects of beer production at this location, from raw materials acquisition to cellar work, QC analysis to packaging. This individual must be solution-oriented, ambitious, and an effective worker. *
Duties:
Wort production on a 2-vessel, 10 bbl brewhouse
Brewhouse CIP
Cellar duties as needed (vessel CIPs, transfers, yeast pitching/collection, dry *hopping, carbonation)
Follow QC/QA protocols in the brewhouse and cellar with strict adherence to documentation practices
Manage inventory of raw materials and oversee supply chain between multiple locations
Develop and maintain brewing schedule to produce a wide portfolio
Collect, analyze, and report data in Orchestrated Beer
Summarize production output, loss, COGS, and QC metrics for evaluation by Production Manager
Supervise small production team; communicate to team upcoming production schedule, equipment issues, daily checklists, delegation of tasks, and timing of brewhouse processes
Qualify relevant suppliers and vendors; document and communicate supplier issues and performance to Production Manager
Liaise with Director of Facilities to execute the facility’s related Preventative Maintenance Plan
Model safety and oversee a safe work environment
Maintain clean, organized work space
Desired Qualifications and Abilities:
Minimum of two years experience as a brewing manager at a medium sized production brewery or packaging brewpub
Formal brewing education preferred but not required
Sufficient computer literacy, writing and math skills necessary to accurately document data collection worksheets
Ability to lift large, heavy items
Ability to stand for prolonged amount of time
Forklift experience preferred (Trillium Brewing will provide training)
Ability to safely handle hazardous chemicals in accordance with strict safety protocols
Have a passion for quality beer and workmanship
