Available Position: Brewer
Masthead Brewing Company is a GABF-medal winning brewery in Downtown Cleveland, Ohio, that is experiencing quick growth in the Ohio market. We are looking for another experienced brewer to join our team and grow along with the company.
REPORTS TO: Head Brewer
POSITION TYPE: Full Time Employee, Salary
POSITION SUMMARY: Our ideal candidate has a strong understanding of brewing science, including cleaning and sanitation. Responsibilities will span from the mill room through to the brite tanks. We are looking for someone with at least 3 years experience as a brewer, ideally with just as much experience cellaring. We’ve got a Craftwerk 20 BBL 4 vessel brewhouse, a cellar of 60s and 20s, a growing clean barrel aging program, and a large taproom and restaurant on site. Experience with Orchestrated Beer a plus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Brew and cellar beer
•Adheres to and advances the safety procedures in the brewery.
•Directly responsible for maintaining our quality standards in all aspects of the brewhouse and cellar.
•Advocates a continuous improvement culture throughout the brewery
•Create, review and maintain all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
•Holds self and employees accountable for maintaining a sanitary and micro-biologically stable work environment
•Conduct critical assessment of beers through active participation in raw material and beer sensory panels.
•Review and act upon critical process control data.
•Troubleshoot and solve production problems in a systematic fashion.

•Pumps
•Hoses, valves, clamps, gaskets, and other brewery equipment
IMPORTANT SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
•Exceptional leadership skills.
•Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable addressing diverse groups
•A well-organized and self-directed individual who is a team player.
•Outstanding attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple processes at one time.
•Self motivated with good time management skills.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:
•Extensive brewery experience.
•A brewing certification, diploma or degree.
•Demonstrated mastery of the brewing process.
•Outstanding communication and problem solving skills.

•The work environment is usually that of a brewery.
•The employee regularly works with hazardous materials.
•The employee works on wet floors and with wet equipment.
•The employee regularly works around high voltage, hot water, and steam.
•The employee frequently must work in a sanitary environment.
