We are two months from opening our production brewery in Tillamook so its time to get serious about hiring some staff!
The Pelican Pub & Brewery in Pacific City, Oregon is looking for an Assistant Brewer to join our team! We are small enough that everyone on our team does a bit of everything, so this is an opportunity to grow and expand on your experience. The Pelican is one of Oregon's premier award winning breweries, located right on the beautiful Oregon Coast! www.PelicanBrewery.com We would like to get someone started right away so send us your resume!
To be considered, you must have at least 1 - 2 years experience in a busy brewery setting. We expect you to step into with job with little training. Pay will depend on experience.
Can perform following brewery tasks with little to minimal supervision:
o Fermenter and serving tank cleaning/sanitation
o Fining practices
o Filter setup, operation, cleaning
o Assist in filtration, fermenter and serving tank cleaning/sanitation, brew day tasks, fermentation tracking and waste water management
o Bottler setup, operation, cleaning
o Performing CO2 and packaged air tests on bottled beer
o Keg washing
o Hose washing
o Jockey box/kegerator washing
o Keg filling
o Order pulling
o Materials handling (empty cases, cleaned kegs, palletized beer, bagged malt, etc.)
o Bottling line set-up and operation
Additional skills include:
• Has good attendance, including being on-time to begin work
• Must be able to lift 75 lbs. and perform strenuous work all day. Prolonged standing, climbing, bending, and kneeling is often necessary
• Treats equipment with respect and care
• Can safely operate a hand truck, pallet jack and forklift with training
• Understands what a clean, safe brewery looks like and continuously strives to achieve same
• Can operate the waste water system to the specifications of the brewery and our local sewer/water company
• Understands the functioning of the packaging line(s) and can operate any part of it as part of a team
• Perform routine maintenance for brewery equipment, especially packaging equipment
• Perform facility maintenance at Pelican and Annex
• Available for delivery route driving when needed
• Can complete necessary paperwork
• Fills and preps keg orders for distributors and retail customers
• Can safely and appropriately use all brewery chemicals
• Understands material costs and does not waste materials
• Shows improving skills by regularly accomplishing more complex tasks and increasing speed and efficiency
• Has good attitude and wants to work
• Is reasonable and responsible
• Is a critical thinker and a problem solver; can identify things that may need to be fixed
• Follow directions well/takes notes when necessary
• Listens to and observes brewers and supervisors without being distracted from task at hand; able to multi-task
• Asks pertinent questions when appropriate; learns from mistakes
• Indicates desire to become career brewer
• Shows "sense of urgency" -- hustles; Equates speed and accuracy with increased profits
• Keeps an eye out for potential problems or maintenance issues and brings them to the attention of management and maintenance
• Willingness to learn/learns quickly; willingly accepts assignments
• Shows respect for self and others
• Represents the company well when in public
Pelican Brewing Company is a drug free company which administers random drug screens. A drug screen, back ground check and valid driver's license with an insurable driving record are required for this position. This position also requires that you live in the Pacific City/Tillamook area.
