    Qualifications: Kern River Brewing Company is seeking a brewer with a love for beer and the process of brewing and a willingness to exceed customer expectations in product quality and flavor. Experience in a production brewery is a positive, but not absolutely required. Experience in barrel aging and wild yeast strains is also a positive. Applicants must have the ability to physically carry out the daily requirements of brewing, including lifting 55 lb grain sacks and moving and stacking kegs. Applicants should also have the ability to trouble shoot equipment and brewing processes on the fly. Basic computer and math skills are required. Kernville is located in a rural mountain community with lots of outdoor activities; applicants who require urban settings should probably not apply.

    Job Description: Kern River Brewing Company is a small business and our brewers are involved in many aspects of the company. Normal duties will include brewing on 20 bbl and 7 bbl systems, cellaring, packaging and cleaning. However, additional duties including maintaining tap lines, lab work, recipe development, and involvement in other aspects of the business will also be part of the job.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
    Production of house and specialty beers to Kern River Brewing Company standards. This includes all parts of the brewing process from milling to packaging.
    Cleaning, lots of cleaning.
    Maintain brew sheets, monitoring fermentation, inventory, and governmental compliance paperwork.
    Assist in QC and yeast management
    Weekly product forecast.
    Evaluate and monitor beer and raw materials involved in brewing.
    Being a promotional spokesperson for the Company.
    Fundamental knowledge of plumbing and machinery mechanics/maintenance.
    Possess good beer knowledge and use it constantly to improve the brewery and beer we produce.

    OTHER DUTIES:
    Train assistant brewers to work at a level consistent with brewery production.
    Research, technical and piloting specialties on an ongoing basis.
    Train & test staff in beer knowledge.
    Participate in beer dinners and festivals, customer relations and marketing/promotions/charitable events.
    Conduct brewery tours when necessary.
    Participate in guild affiliations.
    Manage production for offsite accounts if applicable.
