Hangar 24 Craft Brewery is seeking to hire a new Brewer! Founded in 2008, Hangar 24 Craft Brewery creates beers inspired by our local fields in Redlands, California. Named for the Hangar in which Founder and Master Brewer Ben Cook would share his home brews after a day of flying, our beer continues to be produced right across the street from the very same airport. Hangar 24 embodies a local passion for good beer, the absolute love of flying and the enjoyment of time spent among great friends.
This is a full time, salaried position that will be responsible for all functions related to brewing, including (but not limited to) wort production, cellar-work, cleaning and sanitizing equipment, and packaging of beer.
Qualified candidates will have a 4 year college degree in a natural science (preferably one that applies to brewing), or formal brewing education, or 3 years of production brewery experience, and comprehension of the fundamentals of Brewing Science. Forklift Certification is required, but will be provided, if needed. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Key areas of Responsibility include:
• Producing beer in accordance to established SOP’s
• Cleaning and sanitizing brewery equipment with strict adherence to the established SOP’s
• Accurately and completely documenting all required data in the Brew log
• Consulting with the Brewing Manager on a continual basis about brew schedule, raw material needs, shift tasks and activities related to the job
• Following established safety procedures; maintaining a safe work environment at all times
• Using and maintaining Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including inventory of required items
• Following the established Brew schedule and informing the Brewing Manager and Production Manager of any instances where the schedule needs to be changed
• Completing all task checklists, including shift transition checklists
• Communicating inventory needs to the Brewing Manager to ensure production is not hindered by product shortages
• Using and maintaining equipment, including but not limited to: bottling machine, keg washer, forklift, pallet jacks, handcart
