  • Lead Brewer - Houston, TX area

Fort Bend Brewing Company is a rapidly growing 30-bbl brewery in suburban Houston, Texas. We are currently looking for new lead brewer. You must be passionate about craft beer, quality, and innovation. If hard work, making great beer, and an awesome opportunity at a growing brewery sounds interesting, then we’d love to hear from you.

Commercial experience and self-motivation are the two most important qualities in a successful candidate. Further, we have a labor intense brewery. Physical fitness, energy, stamina and agility are required. Long-hour work weeks, while not the norm, are not uncommon and should be expected.

Primary Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
    • Wort production from milling through knockout on a 2-vessel, 30bbl brewhouse
    • CIP, filtration (lenticular filter), yeast management
    • Equipment maintenance
    • Packaging; including bottling, kegging, and cask production
    • Performing yeast cell counts and microbiological analysis
    • Strict adherence to sanitary and record-keeping standards
    • Working with the entire production team to refine standard operating procedures
    • Consistently evaluating the quality of raw materials during everyday operations
    • Providing creative input on beer styles, packaging, marketing, etc.
    • Selected attendance at off-site promotional events, along with in-house tours

Top candidates will meet the following requirements:
    • 3+ years working in a production brewery
    • Sensory training or certification strongly preferred
    • Experience with Meheen bottler a plus
    • Professional brewing education is a plus, as is laboratory or demonstrable mechanical experience
    • A commitment to helping others and getting the job done
    • Independent work ethic and flexible schedule for multiple-batch starts and/or clean-ups
    • Ability to work on your feet for hours at a time, repeatedly lift 55#, occasionally moving full kegs (165#), climb stairs, fit in tight spaces, work on ladders and lifts

This is a full-time position. Please send a cover letter and resume to a PM or brewery@fortbendbrewing.com.
