Prison City Pub & Brewery is a start-up brewpub located in downtown Auburn, NY - in the heart of the Finger Lakes region. We are seeking a Head Brewer to join our team.
The brewery will have a 5bbl system. Most of the beer will be served on-premise. We’ll do a small amount of distribution (kegs for key local bars and limited release 750s), but there is room to grow into other spaces in the building if needed.
We’re seeking a brewer that can brew quality beer, consistently and with passion. The right person will be able to make classic styles well, but also brews with creativity and likes to experiment or take risks.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- All brewing and quality control - must be proficient in all aspects of the brewing process from grain to glass
- Inventory Management of all raw materials including hop and malt forecasting
- Maintaining a clean “tour ready” brewery – housed behind glass for customer view
- Equipment Maintenance and Trouble Shooting
- Ability to work independently, and keep all staff and management up to date on brewing schedule and release of new products
- Filing of all Federal and State Paperwork, including taxes, and statement of process for all beers
- Participation in marketing and charity events, festivals, and promotions. Be an ambassador for the brewpub
Qualifications:
- Experience in a commercial brewery, whether it be production or brewpub
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift 55lbs regularly
- Ability to stand at least 8 hours per day
- Ability to work in wet, hot, and cold environments
- Ability to move/carry brewery related equipment
