Title of Job: Head Brewer Position
Location: Uncle Billy's Brewery & Smokehouse, Austin, Texas

Summary:

Iconic, local Austin brew-pub is seeking a Head Brewer to join the Team and take Uncle Billy's to the next level. The position will involve managing the full range of day to day brewing activities, the distribution and promotion of the brand while working hand in hand with the management team to incorporate and integrate all areas of the business. Uncle Billy's is currently undergoing an extensive expansion of its Brewery including a new 20bbl brew house, cellar, grain room, keg washer, an indoor/outdoor island Bar, a new Smokehouse Menu and recent additions to a highly professional and experienced Management Team!

Qualifications & Experience:

• Five or more years experience in a production brewery or brewpub including experience with distribution, equipment installation, kegging and canning lines, barrel aging, and yeast health management preferred

• Knowledge of proper cleaning procedures and handling of hazardous materials in a safe and secure manner

• Demonstrates knowledge and commitment to quality control, safety and sanitation regulations

• Ability to set clear, measurable objectives, delegate responsibility, recognize outstanding performance and correct sub-par performance

• Strong planning, communication, time management and organizational skills

• Mechanically inclined, self-motivated initiator, problem solving ability

• Ability to establish, build and lead a successful brewing team, work well with vendors, subordinates, co-management and ownership with an emphasis on integrity, honesty, respect and high professional standards

• A positive team attitude, with a commitment and passion for brewing incredible craft beer!

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage the day to day operations of the Brewery and all aspects of the Distribution process

• Perform quality control and quality assurance testing on an ongoing basis

• Accountable for all weekly and monthly inventories (including beer to go, cooperage, deposits, etc.)

• Attend all manager meetings and work closely with all FOH and BOH management to insure consistent communication involving all areas of the business

• Prepare, approve, submit and maintain all Federal, State and local taxes, permits, etc.

• Represent Uncle Billy's at local Brewer Association meetings and events

• Facilitate, attend and work all major beer festivals, tradeshows, etc.

• Represent Uncle Billy's while speaking to the Media and Public

• Develop, Implement and Manage Brewery Tour Program

• Work closely with Chef/Pit Master on Food & Beer pairings and Quarterly Brewery Dinners

• Interview and sign off on all staff prior to being hired to ensure a passion and commitment level for Craft Beer

• Develop and train all FOH staff thru on-going beer training classes and continuing education

• Manage beer label approval process

• Maintain and keep all aspects of the Brewery in "Tour Condition" at all times!

• Maintain craft beer awareness for Uncle Billy's through social media, blogs, its website, etc.

• Work a flexible schedule - day, evening, weekend and holiday shifts will be required

Compensation:

A competitive Salary and bonus structure will be commensurate with experience. Full medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance provided. An ability to hire and train a part-time or full-time brewing assistant as business warrants and when necessary.
