    JOB TITLE: Talent Buyer
    LOCATION: Eccentric Café, Kalamazoo, MI
    REPORTS TO: Entertainment Manager
    POSITION TYPE: Full-time, Salaried
    EXTERNAL POSTING DATES: 07/25/2014 – 08/17/2014

    POSITION SUMMARY: Works to oversee live performances taking place at the café and back room by booking talent. Manages and schedules Sound Technician staff

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    •Adheres to and advances the “Safety Always” culture of Bell’s Brewery.
    •Schedule and manage Sound Technician staff.
    •Conduct monthly/weekly check-in meetings with staff.
    •Develop and maintain relationships with booking agencies, bands, and individuals in the music industry.
    •Research, source, and book local, regional and national bands, via live performances and/or the internet to ensure the reflection of Bell’s culture and style.
    •Schedule and book promotional or live performance engagements.
    •Negotiate and make offers with managers, agents, and bands regarding dates of live performances.
    •Manage business and financial affairs related to terms of contract, deposits, lodging, selling tickets, direct marketing, and promoting live performances.
    •Work with CFO and Accounting department to create expense reports for analyzing profitability based off of market history.
    •Review and sign contracts/riders for live performances.
    •Work with marketing team to develop marketing strategies and materials for show promotion.
    •Organize and distribute promotional materials for shows via website, internet, and surrounding locations.
    •Organize and distribute information regarding entertainment events logistic to appropriate departments.
    •Advance details of each performance prior to the date.
    •Must have a flexible schedule, nights and weekends are required, to accommodate performances.

    Additional duties may be assigned as necessary

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    •Sound technician staff

    •Ticket printing machine

    IMPORTANT SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    •Knowledge of Bell’s Eccentric Café culture
    •Incomparable interpersonal skills
    •Ability to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive information
    •Strong oral and written communication skills
    •Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
    •Ability to organize and meet deadlines
    •Exceptional multi-tasking skills
    •Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
    •Money-handling skills
    •Initiative and a proactive disposition
    •Understand that Bell’s does not work with outside promoters

    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:
    •3 years experience with live entertainment bookings
    •Intimate knowledge of local and national entertainment bookings
    •Demonstrated proficiency in event production coordination
    •Leadership experience
    •Prior bar or restaurant experience
