Northern United Brewing Company -- producers of Jolly Pumpkin, North Peak and Grizzly Peak -- has an immediate opening for a lead brewer. The lead brewer position, located at our production facility in Dexter, MI, will be responsible for assistance/oversight in coordinating all brewing related activities. We're looking for someone who knows how to communicate, has proven leadership ability and possesses a strong passion for brewing.
Job duties include:
-Work closely with the Head Brewer to coordinate and carry out all brewing/production activities.
-Train/coach new staff members.
-Ensure that all work being completed is done safely and in accordance with our in house SOPs.
-Brew on both the 10 BBL and 50 BBL brew houses.
-Work in both cellars when/ as needed.
-Work with the Head Brewer to develop an improved system for training and educating new and existing staff members.
-Maintain and inventory proper levels of raw materials, chemicals and various other related items.
-Participation in lab and QA/QC.
Requirements:
- 3 years brewing experience in a production environment with at least 1 year of that time in a management role.
- Formal education related to brewing is helpful, but not absolutely necessary.
- Proficiency with Microsoft office programs.
- Flexibility in terms of scheduling as this position may require evening/weekend work.
