    Small and rapidly growing Brewery in South-Eastern Georgia (Savannah Area) looking for an experienced Brewer. Brewery is currently operate on a new 15 Barrel Brew-house with plans to expand within the next 24 months to a larger system.


    The Head Brewer position will oversee Brew House, Cellar, and Packaging operations as well as work on recipe development with the Owner and sales and marketing director. The optimal candidate will have the ability to work with our entire team to facilitate current and additional production, as well as help plan and execute our future expansion plans. The Head Brewer will also oversee and coordinate all aspects of the process from Grain to Glass as well as beginning to end of production.


    The minimum requirements are outlined below and candidates should not submit a resume unless the minimum requirements and experience level is met.


    Qualifications

    • Should have a formal brewing education and/or a minimum of 2-5 years brewing experience in a commercial brewery/brewpub on a 10 Barrel system or larger

    • You have experience in successfully creating and developing beer recipes

    • Natural ability to work independently or within a team, and able to lead and mentor others.

    • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to formulate and execute plans and projects.

    • Technical knowledge in all applicable aspects of the brewing process

    • Brewhouse - everything from raw material handling through monitoring fermentation and conditioning, including milling equipment, yeast management/propagation, sanitation, barrel aging, and lab experience preferred

    • Cellar -sanitation, clean in place tank cleaning, dry hopping, sanitation, yeast handling, tap cleaning, keg washing, barrel filling, packaging of kegs, carbing, and soda making

    • Be safety conscious and always aware that the brewery is a potentially dangerous workplace. Use all available safety equipment and strive to make improvements in brewery safety

    • Ensure the smooth operation of the brewery with regards to staff relations, and the proper maintenance of brewhouse equipment

    • Passionate about quality and cleanliness

    • Establish, document and execute SOP guidelines for production and packaging activities.

    • Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and leadership skills required. Able to communicate with management, staff and customers

    • An understanding of quality assurance (QA) methods and techniques, laboratory operations, and basic knowledge of chemistry and biology

    • A strong mechanical background with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical problems

    • Prior packaging, bottling, and racking experience preferred

    • This position reports directly to our owner/brewer




    General Abilities/Requirements

    • Ability to work in a fast paced brewery environment while maintaining the precision required by assigned task

    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

    • Flexible, results oriented mindset, with a strong work ethic and a good attitude are paramount. Must be able to deal with frequent change

    • Strong desire to learn and a willingness to be taught/instructed

    • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required

    • Ability to record all brew house information consistently, accurately and legibly

    • Perform with honesty, integrity, positive attitude, and maintain a good attendance record

    • Use good tact, good manners, and mature judgment

    • Willing to sign a Non-disclosure/ Non-compete agreement

    • Excellent math skills

    • Must be 21 years of age or older

    • Work 40 hour weeks. Flexible and willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done right (evening shifts, weekends and overtime)

    • Provide information requested by Sales/Marketing in regard to beer descriptions, tasting notes, information required for brand registrations, sales sheets and other marketing materials

    • Attend industry functions as required including: inside tapping events, industry seminars, outside tap takeovers, beer festivals, beer dinners, etc

    • Participate with annual reviews for brewing staff

    • Inventory management including raw material ordering, receiving, shipping, storage and organization of storage areas on site, monthly inventory of grain, hops, and chemicals to owner/brewer

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, namely MS Word, Excel and Outlook

    • Have experience with accounting and production systems such as Orchestrated Beer.

    • Select and order ingredients/maintain contracts

    • Keep accurate records of brewing, inventory, taxes, reviews, and maintenance

    • Maintain preventative maintenance program

    • Train staff and teach Assistant Brewer and Cellarman

    • Provide tours to staff and guests


    Physical

    • Ability to safely lift up to 75 pounds, move 165 pounds, climb steep stairs repeatedly, crouch and work in tight spaces

    • Climb, stand, walk, crawl, bend, crouch, twist, and lift regularly throughout duration of shift, including continual dragging, carrying, and manipulation of hoses, pumps, parts, buckets, carts, tools and machinery

    • Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus

    • Willingness to be frequently exposed to wet conditions and work in extreme cold or hot conditions

    • Ability to work near moving mechanical parts in a moderate noise level

    • Ability to work in a standing position or being on your feet for extended periods of time

    • Frequently reach with hands and arms

    • Conscious of the safety of yourself, staff and customers

    • Non-slip shoes with reinforced toes are required to be worn at all times while in the brewery

    • Chemical resistant gloves and/or boots are required to be worn at all times while working with chemicals

    • Hearing protection and safety glasses are required to be worn in certain areas of the brewery
