Head Brewer – 32 North Brewing Co – San Diego, CA
32 North Brewing Co is a 10bbl brewery located in San Diego, CA. We’re looking for an experienced and creative head brewer who’s looking to lead a specialty/barrel-aged focused brewery in one of the best cities in the world. We want a brewer who can create a cohesive and exciting set of core, seasonal, and specialty brews that set 32 North apart from the pack in San Diego and work well with our already growing brand.
If you know how to brew awesome beer, have a specialty brew focused style and are interested in being part of a team that’s looking to take an already well-respected brewery to the next level, this is the place for you.
Specific Duties Include:
- Beer recipe formulation
- Brewery operations: Production planning, ordering, inventory management, wort production, cellaring, yeast management, keg washing and kegging, maintaining equipment and brewery in safe and clean condition at all time
- Managing barrel aging/sour program
- Attending trade shows and beer festivals when necessary (they’re fun anyway)
- Keep detailed brewing records showing brewing schedules and beer completion dates
- Managing assistant brewers, cellar men, and interns
- Brewing awesome beer
Position Requirements:
- 3 years prior professional brewing experience and/or formal brewing education
- Preferred: Fermentation/Brewing degree or certificate from an accredited college.
- Proven production of consistent, high-quality craft beers.
- Able to work independently without supervision.
- Good organizational and communication skills
- Mechanical aptitude is desired
- Good documentation skills
- Doesn’t matter when you work, as long as we produce enough beer!
- Ability to lift up to 150 lbs safely
- We prefer applicants from California, but are always open to great brewers elsewhere!
- Must have a valid driver’s license
