Cellarperson / Assistant Brewer
Telegraph Brewing Company, located in Santa Barbara, about 90 miles northwest of Los Angeles, is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled individual to join our production team. The person in this role is responsible for assisting in all aspects of the brewery production process, from wort production to packaging. Primary responsibilities revolve around managing beer in the cellar, packaging (bottle and draft), and CIP/SIP processes, but will include other tasks as well. Specific duties are detailed below.
Our ideal candidate will bring production brewery experience (required for the position) with an educational background in the sciences or in brewing science specifically (preferred, but not required). This person will be a member of the small and tightly knit Telegraph Brewing family and the right candidate will be passionate about unique beers, a skilled communicator, self-motivated, organized, personable, and able to work well with others.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage dirty and clean keg inventory
• Operate keg cleaning equipment to ensure supply of clean, sanitized kegs
• Complete CIP (clean-in-place) and SIP (sanitize-in-place) processes of tanks, hoses, equipment as dictated by production SOPs
• Assist in operation of filtration equipment as dictated by production SOPs
• Manage keg filling operation
• Assist in operation of bottling machine, labeling machine, and wire-hooding machine
• Perform designated QC and QA checks at various stages of brewing and fermentation processes, including gravity readings, pH readings, DO readings, and sensory analysis.
• Basic light mechanical repairs to brewing equipment when necessary.
• Taste packaged product at intervals to ensure product consistency and stability.
• Work effectively with the Head Brewer to meet production needs.
• Operate forklift to receive shipments of bulk grain, bottles, and other deliveries, and to load distributor or LTL trucks when shipping beer out
• Periodic weekend work, including monitoring fermentation and determining when to crash cool beer at end of fermentation, yeast collection, beer transfers, occasional beer festivals.
• Maintain clean, safe, and orderly work areas in cellar and brew house.
• Other duties and projects as assigned.
