Head Brewer/Brewmaster Position in Shanghai, China
Doctor Beer is an inner city brewpub with a current expansion in progress!
We have been on the scene in Shanghai since 2011, and have grown with the developing craft beer trend in the city - and now it's time to open a new shop!
We are seeking an qualified and experienced candidate to assume the role of Brewmaster for the company.
This role will be a multifunction position. You will be responsible for the following:
- Production Schedule
- Overseeing full production of beers ensuring high level of quality, both in taste profile and appearance
- Material inventory and ordering
- Maintenance of equipment and cleaning SOP's
- Upgrading and improvements to existing and future systems
- Recipe control and new recipe development, adjusting recipes as required to meet customer tastes
- Coordinating with bar and office management as required
- Helping coordinate events both on and offsite
- Call outs for issues with brewery (this may be outside of normal working hours, e.g. at night or on weekends)
- Maintaining good standing with other local craft breweries and brewers
- And, still getting your hands dirty to brew!
Candidates should have the following skills and experience:
- 3 years work in production brewery or brewpub, preferably at lead brewer level or above
- Management experience
- Ability to deal with people from other cultures, (i.e a lot of flexibility and reasoning). Note, speaking Chinese is not a requirement for this role, but basics should be picked up along the way.
- Experience with inventory management and ordering, you will have two locations to maintain stock for
- General Certificate Brewing, or equivalent as a minimum qualification (Diploma level candidates will be given priority). This position requires both practical and technical experience across all areas of brewing practice.
- Good time management skills
- A good eye for a clean work environment
- A strong passion for beer and brewing
- Creativity and diligence to the job is a must
- Good sense of adventure and an open mind
