  • Brewing Process Manager

    We’re looking for our next Team Stone member someone who has a passion for what we do and how we do it.

    This is a newly-created position due to the company’s strong growth and expansion in the RVA area. The Brewing Process Manager manages Brewhouse, Centrifuge/Filter, or Cellar equipment/schedules to process beer, filter beer, and perform quality assurance testing according to Stone Brewing Co. SOPs as well as assists in a supervisory capacity to ensure the smooth running of all Brewery and Cellar operations. Must be able to work any shifts in a 24 hour period.

    Essential Duties:
    •Manage Brewhouse, Centrifuge/Filter, or Cellar equipment to process beer, filter beer, and perform quality assurance testing according to Stone Brewing Co. SOPs.
    •Monitor and track progress of filter runs and/or brews and schedule necessary preventative maintenance. Ensure efficient and timely supply of beer for packaging.
    •Maintain and track appropriate inventory levels of raw materials, chemicals, PPE and other department consumables and equipment.
    •Implement recipe changes at the direction of Lead Brewer/Brewmaster/Director of Brewing Operations.
    •Manage communications with Brewhouse, C/F or Cellar equipment manufacturers and act as liaison for control systems contractor work.
    •Provide initial and ongoing training and ensure compliance with safety regulations and SOPs for Brewery staff.
    •May supervise staff, including staff scheduling and providing input for preparation of Performance Reviews.
    •Drive continuous improvement in Brewhouse, Centrifuge/Filter, or Cellar operation, equipment upgrades and beer quality. Provide recommendations on process improvement and recipe formulation.
    •Ensure that the Brewery, Centrifuge/Filter area, and Cellar are clean and organized at all times.
    •Ensure production order accuracy from raw material consumption to finished goods reporting.
    •Maintain process area Quality dot graph packets and recommend process and recipe changes to achieve superior product consistency.
    •Consistent focus on driving process area key metric performance.



    Required Experience:
    •Bachelor’s degree (BA) from four-year College or university.
    •Must have at least 2 years’ supervisory experience with at least 5 years’ experience running/operating a large brewhouse system (50bbl +) and 5 years’ experience running/operating a Centrifuge Filter system or equivalent combination of Brewhouse and Centrifuge/Filter experience.
    •Computer literacy and experience with internet, Microsoft software programs (word & excel.)
    •Strong leadership, team member, and staff/team development and motivation skills.
    •An effective manager with strong execution skills that is entrepreneurial, astute, and has a passion for getting into the details where appropriate to make effective decisions and drive results.
    •Big picture thinker, strategic, but able to distill functions and business interactions into tactical/detailed process and workflows in order to drive improvements and efficiency gains.
    •An effective and persuasive communicator with outstanding presence and presentation skills that constantly strives for simplicity and clarity.
    •Ability to work in a fast paced environment with changing priorities.
    •Ability to communicate across the organization and understand impact of work on other departments.
    •Excellent organizational skills.
