    Lead Shift Brewer: Public House Brewing Company

    About Us:
    Public House Brewing Company opened its doors in Rolla, MO in 2010 with a 3.5 BBL brewhouse. The demand was overwhelmingly positive and we have been growing at a rapid pace annually. We have award winning beers medaling at GABF, World Beer Craft, and several other regional and national competitions. We opened our second location in 2014 with a 20 BBL 4 vessel brewhouse and a new bottling line. We are currently distributing in Missouri, Arkansas and southern Illinois

    About the Job:
    The lead shift brewer works under the head brewer to oversee and participate in all brewing activities. They are responsible for wort production, fermentation monitoring, reporting, training and quality assurance, as well as coordinating with the cellar team. Other brewery/cellar duties as needed.


    Responsibilities/Requirements:
    • Good practical knowledge of brewing process from grain to package
    • Complete proficiency in all aspects of cellaring
    • Very good practical knowledge of CIP and SIP procedures with strict adherence to internal process SOP’s
    • Ability to lift 60 lbs over shoulders and work safely in extreme conditions
    • Good record keeping
    • Ability to perform general maintenance on brewing equipment
    • Quality wort production up to 5 days in a week
    • Coordinate with Head Brewer in scheduling
    • Responsible for creating all brew-sheets, ensuring proper efficiencies to hit targets
    • Review all brew-sheets to ensure you are hitting targets and maintaining good record keeping
    • Evaluate any continued education and/or training necessary
    • Assist with maintenance of all brewing equipment
    • Coordinate with farmers to take spent grain
    • Coordinate with head brewer and warehouse to ensure delivery of raw materials
    • Ensure good communication between Head Brewer, cellermen, and all shift brewers
    • Cleans, sanitizes, and purges tanks according to S.O.P.’s (bright, fermenting and brewhouse)
    • Carbonation monitoring;
    • Effectively communicate mechanical and process issues with Head Brewer/cellarmen
    • Basic beer movements – empty and fill tanks, transfer beer
    • Ensures work area is clean and well organized
    • Ensures tank exteriors are cleaned regularly
    • Monitors and records results of fermentation and cellaring of beer
    • Ensures that product and process is free from microbiological contamination
    • Ensures equipment is maintained and kept in good working order
    • Filters and carbonates beer as required
    • Ensure appropriate samples are taken for Quality Assurance
    • Assisting in any other brewing functions as needed by head brewer
    • Assist in inventory upkeep


    Our Ideal Candidate:
    • Should have a strong focus on quality, safety and efficiency
    • Minimum 2 year’s experience on 15bbl (or larger) brewhouse
    • Good communication skills
    • Good computer skills
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
    • Flexible hours, early morning starts and long shifts
    • Attention to detail is a must
    • Ability to follow complex instructions and adhere to them
    • Precision in daily tasks
    • Motivated to lead others
    • Ability to work around extreme noise levels
    • Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms as well as stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
    • Ability to frequently and safely lift and/or move up to 150 pounds
    • Ability to be frequently exposed to wet conditions
    • Frequently exposed to strong and sometimes disagreeable odors and occasionally exposed to dangerous chemicals
    • Ability to work around moving mechanical parts
    • Positive, get it done no matter what attitude
    • Passion for brewing and beer
    • Be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time (up to 12 hours)
    • 21 years or older
    • Able to work in tight, small, confined spaces
