    Executive Director of the Massachusetts Brewers Guild

    General Description:
    The full time Executive Director will have the opportunity to be at the center of the state’s brewing scene working with the board and all member breweries to promote and protect the great beer scene that the commonwealth offers. This person will play an instrumental part in helping breweries to continue to succeed by creating events, generating press, and lobbying. The ED role is a rare opportunity for someone with the drive and an entrepreneurial spirit to really innovate and elevate consumers knowledge, connection, and presence of the state’s brewers.

    To be a Guild Executive Director, it is key to:
    ● Be highly self-motivated and be able to take directions from an active Board of Directors all while being self-sufficient.
    ● Eager to learn about the complex rules and regulations governing breweries and how it affects their businesses
    ● Be a self-starter that can come up with creative ways to make the annual Brewers Festival a larger success each and every year.
    ● Be entrepreneurial and figure out new types of events and programming that both appeals to consumers and member breweries while also generating revenue for the guild.
    ● Be able to build excellent relationships and networks with member breweries as well as other key players in the beer market. This includes distributors, ABCC, retail stores, restaurants and suppliers. Be the hub!
    ● Be comfortable talking with politicians and willing to take part in lobbying on behalf of brewers
    ● Be excited to talk to press and convey enthusiasm for the beer we all work so hard to create
    ● Be a promoter that conveys the state’s brewers as a key driver to economic and job growth and integral part of the state’s tourism
    ● Be passionate about every aspect of the ED role from the glamorous to the mundane. Responding to emails, updating the website, applying for grants are all key to succeeding in this role.

    Role Expectations:
    ● Passion for Beer: We want you to eat, sleep, drink, and run with a beer in your hand (where legally allowed). Have a love for the craft and the entire community that devotes their life to it.
    ● Event Planner Extraordinaire. Be able to plan and execute multiple events per year ranging from guild meetings to beer fests and everything in between. Get creative, first ever wort slip-n-slide pool party?!
    ● Lobbying: Be a force for the craft brewing industry. Participate in press and converse with regulators, legislators and consumers. Represent!
    ● Communication Maestro: Actively generate content and connect on social media, respond to emails and phone calls from members to media, document, newsletters, etc.
    ● Know Everyone. Travel to each member brewery, meet the owners, understand the challenges and triumphs, and use that knowledge to make the guild stronger and more effective.
