Santa Monica Brew Works has an immediate opening for an Assistant Brewer in beautiful Santa Monica, CA. Reporting to the Head Brewer, you will take part in the brewing, production, and packaging of the highest quality products.
Job Description:
-Work closely with brewery team to achieve desired quality and production targets
-Participate in all aspects of the production and packaging of beer (including brewing, cellaring and filtering)
-Handle and store yeast strains
-Oversee inventory and quality management of raw and other materials used in the brewing/production process
-Enter inventory and monitor progress of beer through production cycle via brewery information system (currently “OrchestratedBEER”)
-Work with other departments throughout the brewing, racking and packaging process
-Other duties as assigned throughout the brewery to assist other departments as needed to accomplish organizational goals
Position Requirements:
-College education
-At least 2 years brewing and production experience
-Strong technical knowledge of brewing, yeast strains, fermentation, filtration and packaging.
-Attention to detail and patience for brewing process to achieve high standards of quality
-Physical capability of lifting 60 pounds and moving pallets of materials
-Ability to drive (or learn to drive) a small forklift in a safe and capable manner
-Interest in long-term commitment to the industry
-Passion, creativity, technical/mechanical savvy and commitment to quality and hard work
-A great team work ethic
