Reclaimed Rails Brewing Company is hiring the next great head brewer in the Des Moines metro! Our 15bbl brewery, a one of a kind 2,500 ft2 taproom, and of course the famous “Log Ride” deck are looking for someone to call RRBC home! Is that you?
Since opening in 2015, “The Rails” has become a favorite destination brewery with loyal guests visiting from the local community, general metro area, and traveling visitors from throughout the state. Our home town, Bondurant, has become one of the fastest growing communities in Iowa and is displaying amazing support for our business.
Like our community, RRBC continues to grow and thrive. Draft accounts are being added all throughout the metro area and soon beyond. We have aggressive growth plans along with strong profitability after only a short few months. A great foundation of beer recipes and a couple flagship beers already exist, but the RRBC family is excited and look forward to our new brewer pouring their own flavor into the glass. A taproom manager, and many friendly bartenders (beer slingers!) are already Ridin’ the Rails and we’ve got your ticket for this exciting and rewarding train ride. All Aboard!!
Successful candidate would be responsible for all brewhouse operation from initial beer inspiration all the way to presentation at table. Head brewer is responsible for ingredient inventory and management, recipe development, brewhouse and cellar operation, keg cleaning and filling, tax filing and all other brewhouse responsibilities. Brewery has 15 bbl brewhouse, four 15 bbl fermenters, two 7 bbl fermenters (for small batch and higher gravity beers), and a 1 bbl pilot system to churn out new beers to fill our 16 taps. The pilot system provides brewer the opportunity to experiment and create new exciting brands while showcasing ever-changing variety. This is an opportunity for a creative brewer to take our established following, grow it to new levels, and fuel our train down the tracks for years to come.
Job requirements:
- At least 2 years professional brewing experience with production brewery experience a plus (recent brewing school graduates with strong brewing experience may be considered).
- Flexible work schedule – nights and weekends possible.
- Ability to meet the usual brewhouse demands of working in hot, cold or wet environments. Able to stand for long periods of time, lift 55 lbs and maneuver 165 lbs. Bend, squat, climb stairs, etc.
- Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and organized.
- Mechanical experience and willingness to trouble shoot.
- Love of beer with a friendly outgoing personality to make friends and share passion.
