  • Head Brewer Opening in Arizona

Tombstone Brewing Company is seeking applications for head brewer. The ideal candidate will have an intense passion for beer, a commitment to the highest quality standards, and substantial experience brewing a wide range of beer styles on a commercial scale.

Candidates will need to be able to:

    -Maintain a clean, orderly facility
    -Handle raw materials
-Operate a 15bbl steam brewhouse, fermenters, and bright tanks
-Clean, sanitize, and sterilize as needed
    -Manage yeast health
    -Rack, filter, and keg beer
-Clean and maintain a draft system
    -Operate a canning line
    -Keep detailed records
-Do all the typical physical stuff you'd expect for a brewer (see every other brewer job listing ever)

    Requirements:

    -Commercial brewing experience
    -Strong industry references
    -Thorough brewing and cellaring knowledge
    -Extensive knowledge of beer styles
    -Substantial recipe development experience

Strong preference given to candidates with the following:

-Five years or more of commercial brewing experience
-A diploma or certificate in brewing or fermentation science
-Specific experience with wild, sour, and/or barrel-aged beers
-Specific experience brewing and serving CAMRA-style real ales
    -BJCP or Cicerone credentials

This is a full-time position with benefits. The brewery has an anticipated opening date of 10/21, but we need help immediately. The brewer will be involved in setting up what still needs to be set up the way they want.

    Additional information:

-Salary will exceed the median income for an entire household in the area (i.e. you can actually be a single income family with a good quality of life on it if you want, owning a home and saving money)
-We are willing to pay some relocation expenses
-We are offering profit sharing immediately as well as vested ownership after a few years

Our head brewer will have almost carte blanche to brew what inspires them, though we do have a good idea about what will sell here. Our number one goal is making a world-class product; we’re more interested in doing exciting things for the love of beer than complaining about cost or time. On top of that, the area is a pretty awesome place to live if you have any interest in amazing mountains, hiking, camping, climbing, mountain biking, horse riding, hunting, birding, off road activities, auto racing, solitude, the Wild West, wine country, all things Mexico, and some very cool little towns with surprisingly good dining and drinking scenes, just to name a few draws.

Candidates should email a cover letter, resume, and three references to: matt@tombstone.beer
