Hours: Full time (40 hours). This is an hourly position.
Pay: $20-22. Based on experience.
Reports to: Director of Brewing
Overview:
Almanac Beer Co is hiring (1-2) brewers to join our small team at our new facility and taproom in Alameda. We work in a cross-trained and rotating environment - everyone brews, cellars, and packages. And everyone cleans kegs. We brew with a new 20bbl JVNW brewhouse and cellar. We are looking for a brewer with experience to add to the table and unwavering commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
This position requires the flexibility to assist where needed, and will provide many growth opportunities. Mechanical experience (even outside of brewing) or laboratory experience are strong pluses.
Applicants should have a minimum of 3 years experience.
An example of duties & responsibilities:
Brewing: Ability to produce wort from a recipe following an SOP in a safe manner.
Fresh & Sour Cellar Operations: Cellar CIP, yeast management, operating centrifuge, barrel cleaning, transfers, blending etc. Cleaning! Must be obsessed with low DO.
Lab assistance: PCR, Yeast counts, DO readings, gravities, pH, Titratable acidity.
Assist as needed with packaging including canning, bottling, and kegging (everyone cleans kegs!) as needed. Experience with Wild Goose, or Meheen bottlers a strong plus.
Record Keeping: Detailed records of all work performed. We will be using an ERP based brewing management suite. Freshman computer literacy is required.
Preventative Maintenance: Assist as needed with the preventative maintenance of all brewery equipment. Bottling lines, boilers, water treatment, etc
Skill Requirements:
3-5 years experience, and/or college education or trade equivalent. This is not an entry level position, come at us with the skillset to match!

Physical strength and agility necessary with ability to lift 100 lbs repeatedly
