Town Brewing Co., opening summer 2018 in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a motivated Brewer/Cellarperson to join our team!
About Town Brewing Co.
Town Brewing will open its doors summer 2018 in the rapidly evolving, exciting FreeMoreWest neighborhood, less than a mile from Bank of America Stadium and Uptown Charlotte. We will be brewing an extensive range of beer styles including IPAs, stouts, saisons, kettle sours, and barrel-aged beers. We intend to make our taproom, which will include a large patio space, a fixture in the community with an inviting atmosphere and exciting events. Town Brewing Co. will also have a kitchen to provide patrons with a limited but enticing menu, which may expand over time.
About the Position:
Brewer/Cellarperson will be a full-time role, reporting to the Head Brewer. As part of a small production crew, expect to wear many hats with responsibilities including wort production on a 3-vessel 15 bbl system, tank CIP, beer transfers, carbonation, kegging and keg washing, milling and spent grain handling, lab work, and of course, plenty of general cleaning. As a new brewery, we are seeking a motivated individual who can thrive in an exciting and challenging start-up environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion to grow and learn as a brewer, and can expect regular sensory and beer style training, as well as in-depth cross training in all production areas. There will be opportunities for creative input and recipe development for the ideal candidate.
Responsibilities:
- Wort production on 3-vessel system
- Tank and Brewhouse CIP
- Beer transfers
- Kegging, keg washing
- Beer carbonation
- Daily gravity and pH readings
- Trub dumps
- Milling in, spent grain handling
- Inventory management/assisting with shipping and receiving
- Adhere to all established SOPs and safety standards
- Assist with cell counts and other basic lab work
- Assist with outside events such as beer festivals as needed
- Maintain a clean and safe production environment
Qualifications:
- 1+ years experience in a production brewery
- Exceptional ability to multitask
- Knowledge of beer styles and craft beer trends
- Familiarity with common beer off flavors
- Basic recipe design knowledge
- Ability to repeatedly lift 55 lbs
- Ability to work in hot, cold, and wet environments
- Ability to think outside of the box
- Attention to detail
- Experience with forklift operations
- Familiarity with Ekos a plus
- Formal brewing education, biology, chemistry, or culinary/food science background a plus
