Brooklyn Kura is New York State's first craft sake brewery. We are introducing consumers to fresh, premium quality sake; a rare experience outside of Japan. We have a simple goal-- to make the highest quality, most delicious sake possible and you will assist the Head Brewer in every step of the brewing process. Your obsession with cleanliness and attention to detail will have a direct impact on our final product.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the emerging craft sake brewing scene on the ground floor. This Assistant Brewer position will initially be part time and will likely move to full time as we continue grow. Hourly rate will DOE.
Expectations of qualified candidate
Candidates with previous brewery experience will have priority, but we’re willing to take on someone without for this entry level position, if the fit is right. More importantly, you must be willing to “think outside of beer”. While there is overlap in the brewing processes, sake isn’t just beer made with rice.

- Daily detailed, self-motivated cleaning and organizing of brewery
- Knowledge of CIP/SIP procedures
- Basic knowledge of fermentation science
- Ability to work safely around steam, electricity, chemicals, wet floors, etc.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs or more repeatedly and safely
- Ability to frequently stand, kneel, climb, and/or crawl
- Ability to follow brewing protocols independently after sufficient training
- Must be a team player and occasionally assist other employees with non-brewing tasks
- Must have a high mechanical aptitude and inventive nature
- Must have an enthusiasm for fermentation
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Must be punctual and reliable
