    Growing New Orleans based brewery is looking for someone passionate about the brewing process, while maintaining the operational controls for continued success and growth. Our Team at Port Orleans Brewing Co. is a “gumbo” of beer enthusiasts who love nothing more than a clean, easy-drinking and great-tasting beer.     The Head Brewer is responsible for all operational aspects of the brewing process including brewing, fermentation, cellaring, packaging, as well as assisting in administrative and organizational duties.

    Head Brewer Responsibilities:
    • Manage daily operation of brewery. Responsible for coordination of all operations aspects from incoming raw materials to packaging, inventory control and ordering, department scheduling and staffing
    • Ensure all beers are within the set quality control parameters and help resolve any issues
    • Contribute to and drive continual innovation and process improvement, as well as SOP development and enforcement
    • Communicate critical information with appropriate departments, troubleshoot where required
    • Train brewery personnel
    • Production scheduling
    • Lab Management
    • Follow all company policies as detailed in the employee handbook-attendance, safety, and protocols, etc.
    • Maintain and clean and sanitary environment in the brewery, using Good Brewing Practices, thorough Preventative Maintenance program, SOP development and enforcement
    • Ensure and protect the Company Culture

    Job Requirements:
    The ideal candidate’s skills/profile will include:
    • Have an established career in and passion for the brewing industry with a minimum of 2 years of professional brewing experience, ideally at a facility producing 8-10,000+ bbl/yr
    • To consistently make our core beers including designing new recipes
    • To Be an ambassador for quality control, process implementation, education and production efficiency
    • Have experience managing a barrel aging and sour program
    • Possess a positive and collaborative approach with our team while being enthusiastic to engage with our customers and general public as an ambassador for the brewery
    • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Be well organized; detail oriented, and possess strong analytical skills
    • Prioritize easily and have solid time management skills
    • Be highly knowledgeable on sanitation, yeast management and health and safety regulations
    • Certification from an accredited brewing program is considered an asset
    • Be able to repeatedly lift 55+ lbs, and move & maneuver empty & full kegs
    • Able to share a beer after work and laugh
