Job Title: Brewer

Reports to: Head Brewer

Tioga-Sequoia Founded in 2007 in Fresno, CA. Our brewery has had a mission to brew world class beers and bring awareness and resources to preserving our backyard, part of the Southern Sierra Nevada Mountains in California. Since then, we have also been able to create a community brand that has acted as a culture hub and advocate for growth of the craft beer community in Central California.

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Head Brewer, the Brewer will be involved in all aspects of working in a production facility including wort production, fermentation, filtration/transfers, and yeast management. This is a mentally and physically intensive position that requires exceptional motivation and excellent professionalism in the face of a demanding and fast-paced production environment.

Expectations of the position, but not limited to:

• Ingredient handling and measurement
• Brew wort on a 30 bbl single infusion mash Brewhouse
• Fermentation monitoring and documentation
• Dry hopping
• CIP/SIP of all brewery and cellar vessels
• Transfer / Rack / filter beer in progress
• Equipment maintenance
• Facilities maintenance (cleaning of floors, surfaces, and common areas)

Qualifications

• Commercial brewery experience preferred, but willing to train the right person with less experience
• Knowledge of the brewing processes, science, and quality control measures
• Ability to work with others and receive constructive criticism and feedback
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
• Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
• A strong work ethic and desire to succeed
• Embrace a process of change and opportunities for continual improvement
• Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve in a timely and effective manner
• Experience with Excel/Sheets and Word

Physical requirements

• Lift and move 55 lbs. independently, and 170 lbs. with assistance
• Ability to work effectively in extreme temperatures from freezing to 100+F, in wet conditions and with continuous moderate noise levels
• Work while predominantly standing for 8-10 hours per day
• Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl in and around equipment and tight spaces with no difficulty
• Function at heights of up to 10 feet or more
• Knowledge and ability to operate forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment
