Description:
Hell’s Basement Brewery is seeking a full time Lead Cellar Person. Hell’s Basement is a ~2,000 hL/year brewery that produces a range of classic and new style beers as well as craft sodas, ciders, and seltzers. Located centrally in Medicine Hat (the sunniest city in Canada) Hell’s Basement utilizes a 2 vessel 20 bbl brew house, and a cellar composed of 10, 20, and 40 bbl fermenters as well as a Cask ACS canner. Working directly under the Head Brewer daily tasks will include:
Monitoring fermentations and following fermentation schedules
Yeast management (Pitching, Harvesting)
Operating canner/keg filler
Beer transfers
Brewing preparations (milling, cleaning, water treatment)
Occasional brewing of beers and other beverages
CIP operations on cold side
Giving direction to and supervising Brew Hands
General tasks as required such as inventory counts, warehouse cleaning, and deliveries
Compensation:
Base salary range $42,000 to $46,000/year DOE
Paid vacation time
Beer allotments
Requirements:
Candidates should possess knowledge of raw materials, the brewing process, cellaring and packaging operations, and beer quality. Either a formal brewing-related education or a minimum of one year practical experience in a production brewery is required. Valid ProServe, forklift certification, a clean driver’s abstract, and first aid are preferred. Must be able to lift a minimum of 55lbs repeatedly, have a good work ethic, a good attitude, and a passion for craft beer.
