Job Title: Head Brewer/Operations Coordinator

The ideal candidate should have at least two years of professional brewing experience, formal brewing education is a plus. Responsibilities include overseeing all facets of the brewing process including wort production, cellaring operations and packaging duties as well as managing a brewery team. A thorough knowledge of the process, quality, ingredients, planning and organizational abilities are essential. Applicants will have a rigorous approach to quality standards and an unconditional commitment to making exceptional beer. This position comes with a significant amount of responsibility as well as freedom for creative expression.
Requirements:
Team oriented
Minimum two years professional brewing experience
15+BBL system experience a plus
Formal brewing education preferred
Principal focus on quality and safety
Proven ability to ensure efficiency in brewing and fermentation operations
Able to work confidently alone and manage time/workload
Must be able to multi-task and problem solve
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to work a flexible rotating schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and some weekends
Strong verbal and written communication abilities
Safe chemical handling knowledge
Mechanical aptitude – knowledge of machinery and systems
Strong work ethic and dedication to improvement of quality and processes
Ability to safely and repeatedly lift 50 lbs.
Work in hot/cold and wet environments that requiring twisting, bending, and pulling in tight areas
Stand for the duration of an 8-hour shift
Use a ladder
Key Responsibilities:
Malt handling and wort production on 15+BBL system
Fermentation
Dry hopping
Packaging operations – canning & keg filling
Responsible for documentation of brewing activities
Manage raw material and finished goods inventory
Maintain safe and clean working environment and comply with all applicable procedures
Yeast management including harvesting, pitching and record keeping
CIP/sanitization of equipment, including fermenters, brite tanks and general cleaning
Cellar duties as required
Must efficiently multitask during an 8-hour shift
Ability to write and develop standard operating procedures
Coordinating beer production against a promotional calendar
Educate other brewery employees in beer and the brewing process.
Participation in off-site events including festivals, beer dinners, tap takeovers, etc
