    Hours: Full time

    Reports to: Lead Production Brewer

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Devil’s Canyon is seeking a Cellar Technician to join the team at our production facility in San Carlos, CA. The Cellar Technician will maintain all cellar operations, execute packaging operations, maintain organization and cleanliness, and assist with shipping and receiving and deliveries as needed. We are looking for someone with unwavering commitment to quality and continuous improvement. This position requires the flexibility to assist where needed while offering many growth opportunities.

    PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Packaging operations: execute all packaging operations including canning, bottling, and kegging. Daily keg cleaning. Inventory checks of consumable packaging materials (keg collars, labels, etc.).
    • Cellar operations: Daily gravity checks, Yeast drops and harvesting (based on brew schedule), VDK sensory tests, dry hopping of applicable styles, CIP/SIP of fermentation and brite vessels, filtration through Velo DE filter. Checking of brewing and production schedules on a daily basis, and knowing what actions are required to facilitate their success. Tracking of beers through all steps of the production process.
    • Shipping & receiving: Assist with shipping and receiving as needed. Including building orders, receiving deliveries, and loading orders.
    • Warehouse organization and cleanliness: Organize brewery work areas and warehouse storage areas. Daily janitorial maintenance of warehouse including daily warehouse cleaning, mopping and floor scrubber operation. Safe handling of all chemicals used throughout the production facility and understanding of the hazards associated with each per its SDS.
    • Assist with preventative maintenance of brewery equipment and various facility maintenance tasks and facility improvement projects
    • Assist with cellar activities, cleaning, keg/barrel moving, and organization
    • Delivery driving: Safely operate company Van and Box Truck to assist with grain/ingredient pickup and occasional deliveries.
    • Record keeping: Detailed records of all work performed in cellar.
    REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
    • 1 year of experience in a capacity that is applicable to the duties and responsibilities of this position a plus. However, we’re willing to hire and train the right individual for the position.
    • Experience with ABE canning lines or Meheen bottlers a strong plus.
    • Must possess a valid drivers license.
    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    • Able to stand for extended periods of time
    • Able to regularly twist, turn, lift supplies and equipment up to 70-lb (I.e., cases of beer, malt bags, hops)
    • Able to move 155-lb kegs of beer (using appropriate techniques and tools).
    • Able to work in a production environment where noise level is usually moderate to loud and temperature fluctuates according to the weather.
    • Fundamental understanding and practice of correct PPE use and as it pertains to tasks throughout the production facility.
    • Ability to work a rotating schedule, including morning/mid/evening and occasional weekend shift.
