Brewer/Cellar Person Position Description at Denizens Brewing Company
Denizens Brewing Company’s Production Facility in Riverdale Park, MD has an immediate opening for a Brewer/Cellar person. We are a craft brewery, taproom, and kitchen that produces a variety of packaged beer served at both our Silver Spring and Riverdale MD taprooms, as well as distributed throughout the DMV area. The right candidate will have 2+ years of experience in a production brewery, feel comfortable working on a team as well as independently, self-motivated and passionate about beer.
Responsibilities
- Brewhouse Operations:
- All aspects of wort production with strict adherence to Denizens brewsheets and SOPs
- Brewhouse CIP and maintenance
- Cellar Operations:
- Proper and thorough tank CIP with strict adherence to Denizens SOPs
- Yeast harvesting and management of multiple yeast strains
- Beer transfers and carbonation
- Dry hopping and direct to tank fruit additions
- A commitment to QC/QA practices put in place by head brewer and lab manager when performing cellar duties
- Logging all brew turns, cellar operations, and tank CIPs in real time in our manual logs and online Ekos brewing software
- Preparing distributor pickups and self distribution orders
- Assisting head brewer in beer inventory management, stocking taproom, and periodic beer training for taproom staff
- Assisting in packaging as needed (kegging or on the canning line)
- Performing sensory homework on our beer brands weekly and logging in our sensory data form
Skill, experience, and work requirements
- 2 years experience in a production brewery working in brewhouse and cellar
- Detail oriented while performing repetitive and labor intensive tasks
- Comfortable troubleshooting equipment and have mechanical aptitude
- Able to work and communicate well with an onsite and remote team as well as interdepartmentally
- Able to operate a forklift safely
- Computer competent with excel
Compensation
- Minimum starting salary 40K. Compensation dependent on experience
