Job Title: Assistant Brewer
Job Description: Duck Foot Brewing Company is looking for a part time Assistant Brewer in San Diego, CA. We are small but rapidly growing Micro Brewery in Southern California. We are brewing as much beer as possible on our 15bbl brew house to meet our ever increasing demand. New equipment will be arriving soon and we are looking to increase our production team accordingly. The ideal candidate has a passion for brewing and will brew our beer according to set company procedures and recipes. While this is an entry level brewery position to start, there is great potential for advancement for the right candidate.
Availability Needed: 25-35 hours per week. Typical work days will be scheduled Mon-Fri between 9am-6pm, though one weekend day per month will be required, as well as potential festival work. A typical work week will consist of 3-4 days, 8-10 hours/day.
Job Duties include (but are not limited to):
Keg washing
Keg filling
Tank CIP
Forklift Operation
Receiving and organizing raw materials
Troubleshooting draft issues in tap room and at festivals
General Cellaring (Gravity readings, fermentation monitoring, record keeping, etc.)
Facility upkeep and cleaning
Beer Transfers
General QA/QC
General Cleaning
Milling and other Bulk Ingredient Handling
Brewery safety and OSHA compliance
Assist in tracking of inventory levels and product availability
Brewery events, Festivals, Tastings - as needed
Anything else the head brewer asks of you
Experience and Skills:
At least one year of professional brewing experience or brewing education
College Degree
Flexible schedule which will include some weekend or evening shifts
Ability and willingness to follow directions
Ability to multi-task
Attention to detail
Ability clearly communicate
Ability to lift 55 pounds repeatedly, and maneuver 160 with proper equipment or assistance
Ability to stand for 5-8 hrs/ day
Tolerance for working in less than ideal conditions safely (Hot, Steamy, Wet, Slippery, With Chemicals)
Self-starter
Problem-solver
Quick Learner
Follows tasks and projects through to completion
Brings good conversation when drinking quality beer
