Job Summary
Stack Brewing is a micro-brewery that has been in operation for about 6 years. We’re currently in the process of expanding our brewing operation into a brewpub to accompany our current location. Our current location will soon represent a retail store and most importantly a recipe development, and barrel aging facility. Stack is looking for a team member to help us continue to serve the brews we’re known for as well as to innovate and grow.
Stack Brewing is located is Sudbury Ontario, a beautiful Northern Ontario city surrounded by forest and lakes. In Sudbury, you will enjoy a healthy outdoor lifestyle, less traffic, less people and a lower cost of living compared to larger Southern Ontario cities.
We operate a 17hL brewhouse with 280 HL of fermentation space, packaging in kegs, cans, and growlers.
The successful candidate will be expected to be proficient in equipment operation and quality control strategies. Maintaining a clean and organized production space is also a critical component of the brewer’s duties.
A passion for the science of brewing, and maintenance of current knowledge of brewing techniques, styles, and industry best practices will be essential to the brewer’s success, and to the success of the brewery.
Duties & Responsibilities
We hope to have this position filled immediately. This is an all-encompassing brewery position focusing on brewing many styles of beer and recipe development. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following, but not limited to:
Raw material managing, recipe development and quality control.
Brewhouse operating, cellaring, yeast managing, and brewhouse maintaining.
Taking measurements to ensure quality standards are met.
Record-keeping, submission of provincial and federal excise reports.
Leading and managing the production staff, as well educating the retail team.
Representing the brewery and assisting at beer festivals/special events as required.
Required Education, Skills and Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Post-secondary diploma/degree/certificate in a brewing or fermentation related program is an asset.
Experience: A minimum of two years in commercial brewing or four years in a related field (wine-making, distilling, etc)
The brewer must exhibit a high level of attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and have a familiarity with Microsoft Word & Excel. A passion for guest satisfaction, quality assurance, and product innovation will be essential to the brewer’s success.
Physical Demands
The brewer will be required to stand; walk; climb stairs; use handheld tools and operate controls. The employee must frequently lift and move weight of up to 25kg.
