    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    Roses by the Stairs brewing will be a privately owned 10BBL brewpub located Phoenix, Arizona focusing on sour, mixed fermentations and spontaneous fermented beers opening in 2020. Roses by the Stairs is seeking an experienced and passionate brewer to lead our brewing operations.

    The Head Brewer will be integral with the development and future success of the brewery. This is an excellent opportunity to grow a brand from the beginning and work in a collaborative environment to shape the future of Roses by the Stairs. The Head Brewer position is a key member of the Roses by the Stairs team, reporting directly to the Owner of the brewpub.

    Management is committed to hiring the best brewer we can find. We have budgeted salary at the high end of the current head brewers wage scale to ensure we can hire a brewer with 5+ years experience at a commercial brewery and brewing sour beers. This will ensure the quality our customers want and deserve.

    RBTS brewing will make a strong commitment to being the most sustainability brewery in Arizona. Starting with the brewhouse and using the most advanced technology to save water and energy on every brew day. Additionally, solar panels, vegetarian cuisine, compostable plates and silverware, local malts and hops, no plastic bags, free EV charging and bike racks are just some of the ways RBTS brewing will put our environment first. 1% of revenues will be donated to local non-profits such as Arizona Animal Welfare League and SPCA, Arizona's oldest and largest no-kill shelter and AZWilg.org, whose mission is to permanently protect and restore Wilderness and other wild lands and waters in Arizona for the enjoyment of all citizens and to ensure that Arizona's native plants and animals have a lasting home in wild nature.

    DUTIES:

    If you have the experience required, you know the duties. But in case you need a reminder:

    Duties will include raw materials acquisition and handling, recipe formulation, brewing, wort production, fermentation and conditioning management, including fermenter/brite CIP & sanitation, monitoring fermentation dry-hopping, yeast management, transferring beers between tanks, monitoring conditioning, kegging and keg washing and detailed recordkeeping, equipment maintenance, laboratory work, cleaning and sanitation.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    At least 3 year’s experience working on a 7+ barrel system.
    Strong understanding of sour brewing science
    Strong record of recipe generation and scaling.
    Understanding of yeast handling and propagation.
    Proven track record of excellent quality control standards
