Position: Packaging Technician
Direct Report to: Production Supervisor: Packaging
Supports: Packaging Staff at a peer level; Brewing and Cellar Staff as needed
Objective: Successfully execute packaging operator tasks in Bottling, Canning and Kegging operations as well as raw material warehousing and inventory

Primary Duties
Learn and employ best practice while working in cellar and packaging areas
Responsible for cleaning and maintaining an organized, prepared and tour ready work area
Receiving and organization of incoming raw packaging materials via both internal and direct shipment; to include accuracy in receiving counts and understanding of “first in, first out” use management
Preparation of materials and equipment for packaging in bottle, can, and keg format
Responsible for operation of dry side package handling to include but not limited to bottle and can depalletizers, capsule application, box folding and sealing, can handle application and pallet wrapping
Responsible for Clean in place of filling equipment for both draft and package products
Responsible for operation and organization of Keg CIP process, including but not limited to titration of chemical reservoirs, planning and executing float balance in response to packaging schedule, and record keeping
Responsible for proper draught beer packaging including but not limited to preparation of lines, clean in place of draught filling system, and keg filling
Assist other departments with workload based on an as needed and scheduled basis including but not limited to barrel work, loading and unloading of trucks, warehousing, waxing, re-work of finished package, and general cleaning
Review completed process paperwork and ensure accurate expression in automated accounting system i.e. Orchestrated Beer
Maintain a clean and tidy work environment
Communicate clearly and accept communication efforts in a three (3) shift environment
Maintain and update shift report in response to real time production
Ensure that sensory evaluation is monitored responsibly and results are communicated constructively
Work closely with Production manager, supervisors, quality, and peer staff to execute and pass off tasks effectively
Maintain a sanitary environment, which includes but not limited to cleaning floors, walls, tanks and ceilings.
Participate in company events as needed and per schedule
Requirements
Work on a ladder periodically up to height of 18 feet.
Physically be able to bend over, twist, kneel, climb stairs, stand all day, lift 55+ pounds, work in a non-temperature controlled environment and repeatedly handle hot and cold liquids.
Able to stand for long periods of time (up to 8-10 hours per day).
Drive a small truck (California Class “C” license required).
Strictly follow recipes and standard operating procedures while recommending ways of improving them.
Willingness to work at clean or sour beer facilities as needed
Willingness to work occasional weekends, holidays and overtime as needed
Strong written and verbal communication skills are critical in a 24-hour operation
Qualifications
High School Diploma / GED. Brewing, Engineering, or other related education preferred
21 years of age, proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States
Forklift Certified
Completion of training rotation through cellar shift duties and/or equivalent education or experience
