    ​Summary/Objective

    Join our team of brewers crafting our beers, as well as grow with us continue our transition from brewpub to production brewery. We seek a knowledgeable, career-oriented brewer willing to take on the tasks of a growing brewery, who has the foundation of experience to tackle increased production, sour beer production, non-sour barrel aging, packaging and more.

    Essential Functions
    • Be a team leader, mentor, trainer, and more.
    • Shift work as well as weekend shifts as required to reach company goals.
    • Perform all daily duties but not limited to brew house operations, tank and environmental cleaning, yeast handling, cellar work, etc.
    • Perform all maintenance tasks to ensure the smooth operation of equipment.
    • Keep accurate inventory and quality management of raw materials and chemicals.
    • Keep accurate daily production records per company and Federal Requirements.
    • Repeated lifting of 55 lb+ bags
    • Confined space work required as well as knowledge of safety protocols for such work.

    Supervisory Responsibility

    Supervise assistant brewer and other brewery employees and volunteers.


    Work Environment

    This position operates in restaurant and office setting but mainly brewery. There are stairs and uneven surfaces. The noise level in the work environment can be loud, hot, and humid. Work with heavy machinery and equipment. The employee may be exposed to hazards including, but are not limited to, slipping, tripping, falls, and hot liquids. Frequent hand washing is required due to staff interactions in food prep areas. Job responsibilities may include working outdoors in the Denali, Alaska area during all seasons, when temperatures are at or below freezing and walking surfaces may be slippery.

    Physical Demands

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively and execute the high quality of beer expected. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping and crouching. The position may require occasional moving of products weighing up to or more than 170 pounds. The position’s activities are carried out using computers and brewery equipment.

    Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

    Longer hours are needed to keep up with production during the high season of summer. During the off season the brewery will test new recipes and still be expected to produce a large amount of product in both locations. Hours can be during the week or weekend before the restaurant opens and once it is open.

    Required Education and Experience

    High school diploma or equivalent required.

    Studies and degree in Brewing Technology is strongly preferred.

    Degree in one of the following areas is strongly preferred:
    • Brewing and distilling
    • Chemistry
    • Chemical engineering
    • Microbiology
    • Food science or technology
    Preferred Education and Experience:
    • At least 3-5 years in brewing beer
    • Ability to manage production
    • Experience in a management role
    • Experience in keeping brewing records
    • Mechanical knowledge
