    Stones Throw Brewing Company is a new brewery opening in the next two months in Goose Creek, SC. This will be the latest venture by local Charleston area restaurateur to combine the well established local favorite Stones Throw Tavern (https://stonesthrowtavern.com/) with a brewing operation. We are looking for a head brewer to join our team!

    The Head Brewer will be responsible for all aspects of the beer production process and day-to-day operations of the brewery. This role with work closely with the owner to create highly desirable beer to be served in our other restaurant locations as well as distributed locally and regionally. The ideal candidate will have great input and freedom into the direction of this new location. We are looking for someone to be a key part of our future as we grow and expand.

    This will be a high-level role involved in many different tasks including hiring/managing other brewers, making purchasing decisions, meeting with customers and vendors, creating new types of beer, setting production goals and managing resources.

    We have an existing 5BBL two vessel brewhouse and 1BBL pilot system. The head brewer will provide key input and decision making into the purchase of a new 15 BBL system to help meet our production goals.

    We expect to compensate this key role with a starting salary pf $50,000 to $70,000, bonus options, and benefits including flexible hours, paid vacation, various insurance options.

    Responsibilities include:
    • Decision making as to what kinds of beer to produce, where to source the best raw materials, what processes to follow
    • Maintaining high level of quality control and consistency
    • Contribute to the marketing efforts of the brewery and maintain high visibility in the local brewing community
    • Representing our brewery with local and regional trade associations, festivals, and events
    • Manage all aspects of beer production and packaging
    • Provide adequate record keeping including details of all production process, raw materials, recipes, and scientific tests and measurements
    • Maintain compliance with all relevant local, state and federal organizations
    • Manage production and maintenance schedules
    The Head Brewer will be expected to have at the following:

    At least 3-5 years experience in brewing beer
    Demonstrated ability to manage a beer production line
    Experience in a role that involved managing staff
    Experience keeping records for quality control
    Experience managing projects
    Mechanical or engineering skills
    Computer literacy and technology skills
