    About the Position
    The Quality Manager will be responsible for managing the Quality Team and directional planning of the Quality Department. The Quality Manager will report to the Director of Brewing Operations. Additional responsibilities will include working with the Production and Packaging Leads to produce and maintain SOPs, equipment calibration and analyze production data in real-time to ensure production of a quality product.

    Key Responsibilities:
    Quality Team Management
    • Leads Quality team – manages, schedules and directs Lab Technicians to accomplish short- and long-term goals of department
    • Oversee laboratory ensuring cleanliness and sanitation, timeliness of results and maintenance of equipment
    • Oversee pilot system and management of Innovation Brewer goals and schedule including structure for liaison to production batches through Production Lead
    Production Team Interfacing
    • Daily review of key performance indicators on batches in process with Production and Packaging Leads
    • Rollout of quality control points and specifications to Production Lead and Packaging Leads, conveying expectations of Leads and process for escalating quality issues on floor
    • Conduct SOP audits and produce process improvement reports, working with Production and Packaging Leads to maintain up-to-date and uniform operating procedures
    • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of production environment
    • Foster continuous improvement efforts including waste elimination through lean manufacturing principles
    Interdepartmental Interaction
    • Interface with Facilities to produce Failure Modes & Effects Analysis sheet to map production process and produce preventative maintenance schedule based on likelihood of failure and impact of failure
    • Interface with Retail Department to produce SOPs to ensure proper in-house draft beer maintenance and standards for packaged beer (in- / out-of-code beer standards and processes). Provide beer sensory descriptions. Provide training when necessary
    • Interface with Distribution Department to ensure packaged beer quality standards are upheld, work to buildout recall program (in- / out-of-code beer standards and processes).


    Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, or a related field
    • At least 5 years of beer, food, beverage, or relevant industry experience
    • A working knowledge of fermentation and brewery operations
    • Thorough knowledge of basic lab techniques (pipetting, microscopy, and aseptic sampling)
    • Working knowledge of Food Safety Programs including GMPs, HACCP, Pest and Allergen Control
    • Strong data analysis and organization skills to drive process improvements
    • General understanding of all brewing, cellaring, and packaging processes
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and various other programs/software

    Strongly Desired:
    • Previous experience as a functional lead or manager of people

    Compensation based on experience.

    This position is full-time, on-site at our Ocean Township, NJ brewery location.
