The Celis Brewery has a position opening for a Packaging Manager. The Packaging Manager will work directly with the Head Brewer and the Brewery Manager coordinating everything in the Packaging Department including training, maintenance, personnel, and data management. This is a full-time management position overseeing both canning and draught production while leading the packaging staff. We are seeking a creative, professional and experienced individual who works well in a team and can get things done.
Job Functions
- Foster a culture of safety and maintain a safe working environment
- Maintain quality standards for finished goods including proper flavor stability, seams, DO levels, microbiological stability, pallet configurations and date codes
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement
- CIP can line and keg line
- Maintain and create packaging team SOPs
- Maintain packaging inventory
- Maintain daily packaging records
- Order packaging materials as required
- Perform all necessary machine PMs
- Keep appropriate records of all maintenance
- Keep appropriate spare parts on hand to ensure reliable operations
- Ability to safely lift, lower, push, pull and move upwards of 55lbs
- Ability to take instruction from supervisor while working both independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge and experience with rotary can lines and draught equipment
- Professional, courteous demeanor and attire, along with the ability to be punctual and reliable
- Ability and willingness to treat others with dignity and respect, in an environment free of harassment and discrimination
- Be solution oriented, and have the ability to calmly and promptly assess, report, and troubleshoot problems that arise
- Flexibility with schedule and assignments, and adaptable to meeting new needs as they arise
- Familiarity with our brand; knowledge of and a passion for craft beer
- Ability to work well with little supervision, and as a part of a team
- Ability to retain confidential company knowledge
- Ability to function in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment
- Ability to work with honesty and integrity
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to edit and interpret data accurately in an inventory system and applicable spreadsheets
- Must be solution-oriented
- Must understand the value of exceptional customer service
- Steel-toed shoes are required
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Ability to lift 55 lbs; able to move 340lbs using tools such as a hand truck or a forklift
- Ability to kneel and stoop occasionally
- Ability to stand and work for up to 12 hours at a time
- Forklift certification or ability to become certified
- Safely handle hazardous chemicals
- Minimum 5-years experience in a production brewery.
- Minimum 2- years experience in a packaging role in a brewery.
- Practical knowledge of SOP development and maintenance, safe operating practices and industry accepted quality standards.
