Bald Birds Brewing and 4-Birds Distilling in Jersey Shore, PA (40 miles east of State College, PA and 10 miles west of Williamsport, PA) is hiring immediately for several positions in our rapidly expanding contract brewing, distilling, and co-packing facility. We have approx. 60,000 BBLS of beer and malt-beverage production and 10,000 BBLS of spirit-based production currently booked for 2022- and considerably more being contracted for 2023 as we speak. We are rapidly expanding and hiring for 2 full-time Packaging Managers/Technicians.
This role would report to the Packaging Director and Production Director, and would be charged with start-up, break down, and daily operations of our brand new Palmer 24/4 rotary canning system and all associated packaging equipment (Pack Leader Pro516 300CPM Labeler, Pack Leader SL-301 shrink sleeve applicator and shrink tunnel, Palmer auto-depalletizer, etc.). This position requires helping to manage a new crew of hard-working staff, running active canning shifts of up to 6 other crew members, cultivating a good atmosphere for staff development, and troubleshooting packaging dynamics in real-time to enable continual production output for 2 shifts a day.
Ideal Experience and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years in beverage manufacturing.
- 2 years of solid beverage packaging experience. We will give preference to those familiar with counter-pressure canning systems.
- General awareness of brewing and cellar procedures.
- Technical/Mechanical aptitude and extreme attention to detail while multi-tasking.
- Proper observation of technical procedures for repairs, modifications, and upkeep on packaging system components.
This role would begin as an hourly position for a short probationary period (1-2 months depending on performance), and would evolve into a salaried position with the facility management group. The rapid expansion and unexpected demand for a wide variety of beverage production will enable us to continually grow and evolve- and our team will grow with us.
