Open European Wide IPA Single Hop competition
The greatest, most innovative brewers in the world can work magic as long as they have two things; high quality ingredients and amazing creativity. There are some fantastic beers out there using some of the best known hops. At Simply Hops however, we want to see what you can brew when we take away some of your favourite toys!
The Challenge
It’s time to do brewing battle in the one and only European IPA competition. Brewers from all over Europe are invited to compete for the title of European Underdog IPA Brewing Champion as well as National Champion titles.
To prove your master brewing skills the beer has to be created without the use of any of the following popular hop varieties; Amarillo, Cascade, Centennial, Citra, Galaxy, Mosaic and Simcoe. Just to make it a little more tricky each year we’re also going to insist that within your recipe you include our “underdog” hop*. This year we have chosen a hop variety that is rarely used in craft beer… Target.
The Prize
The brewer who produces the best independently judged IPA will not only be crowned the European Underdog IPA champion, they will also win £2000** to spend with SimplyHops.com and have their beer on tap during some of the world’s biggest brewing industry events of 2016 including CBC (USA), Drinktec/ (Germany) and Birra Sana (Spain) amongst others.
