  • Swaen Malts

    Hey,

Any of you already used The Swaen malts from Netherlands? http://theswaen.com/

A friend of mine is using in his nano brewery and he likes. And its cheaper than other malts I've been using.

Just want some reassure from other brewers before dump some cash on it.

    Thanks!

    Rodrigo

    Hi Rodrigo,
Did you get to try the malt? There seems to be no posts on Swaen malts here except yours so I had to revive this post. I have recently heard about them from a friend at Brau, and they have quite an impressive range of malts. But before buying and shipping it half way across the world, I was hoping just like you to get any reviews from the Pro's.
    Cheers!

We use the base malts and like them. 5 bbl brewery here. Pils and Ale malt (similar to Pale Ale).

We switched over to Avangard from Best malz for base malts. I like them but the Pils and pale seem a bit sweet. I Haven't brewed with the Swaen yet but just tasting the pils it seems to have a little more depth and graininess to it. Can anyone comment on how they stack up to Best or Weyermann? I'd like to try them myself but not sure I want to start with 10bbls of it.

          Anyone?

We were visited by the rep today and would like to give it a try, but would also like to hear what other brewers have experienced compared to some of the other larger supplier's offerings.

          Any info is appreciated!

            Swaen Malts

We have a 10 bbl 3 vessel system and brew into 30bbl fermenters. We have been using Swaen Pils and Pale for over a year and love it. The flavor is comparable to any other Continental Pils. We Used Avangard and Best and many others but have switched entirely to Swaen Base malt. We also like several of their specialty malts but are just starting to experiment with most of them. I don't think you will be disappointed with Swaen Malts.

We are a 5bbl brewpub based in China and I've been using them for at least 7 months, and I love it!

Using Ale, Pilsner, Wheat and all my specials malts from them now.

Switched from Weyermann due to price and not coming back

Anyone else been using Swaen Malts? Any comparisons? We are opening a 3bbl brewpub and would like to maybe give these a shot.

                thanks

If this is the malt house I'm thinking of, I heard the base malt extractability is higher than others. Can anyone speak to this?

We have started using Swaen for specialty malt. Nice stuff. We've been able to reduce the amount of specialty malt in our grists because it has more flavor than what we've been using
