  • Seeking advice on how to mount the steel backplace for taps

    Hi,

I'm in the process of opening a brewpub in south of China, and the workers just finished the installation of the cold room.

Trying our best to maximize space, we ended up with a big gap between the steel plate and the cold room wall.

Any suggestion on how I should proceed regarding the beer lines? as you can see on the photos, the steel will cover the hole on the wall, but the gap between is making me worried about foam coz the taps wont be refrigerated.

I will probably fill the gap with foam (the one used in mattresses) and see what happens.

    Any other suggestion?

    Thanks,

    Rodrigo

You will want to have them build a 'shadow box' . You will create a contained cavity in the wall so cold air can get to the shanks. You will want to insulate above/below the box so that you do not have condensation issues.

You might want to use fiberglass batting for the insulation. The foam used in mattresses is notoriously flammable.

A shadow box, combined with a small blower to continuously circulate cold air through the box is the way to go.
